Bound by an inescapable curse born of that fateful attack, Soren has turned to hunting bounties—his existence defined by pursuing only those criminals who deserve their reckoning.
Within the realm of Aladran, Soren reigns as one of its most lethal figures, mastering his deadly craft. But can his unparalleled skills shield him from the relentless trauma of his own haunting past?
Yet, a glimmer of hope emerges from an unexpected source—a figure from his past, now grown into a young woman, might hold the key to his redemption. That is, if she doesn’t kill him first.
In this world teeming with thrilling adventure, devastating lows, and powerful, melodic magic…
Soren is… The Scarred.
Reviews
“Amazing work. This kept me on the edge and drew me into Soren’s world. Love it! Can’t wait to read more of these books!”
“I was hooked from the first page! Exciting action and plot twists! Rieke’s writing is fluid and engaging, which I really appreciate because it allowed me to just get lost in the story without stumbling over awkward wording or sentences. I can’t wait for the next book and will be re-reading this one again while I wait! Bravo!”
“This is the first book of C.K. Rieke I have read. At first I thought ‘what the hell!’ as it seemed to be taking forever to get to the story. But…when it did I was hooked! The story just seemed to explode and I couldn’t read it quick enough and was devastated when it ended 🙁 So I was very thrilled to see the second book was already for me to purchase. Can’t wait to get started (I just bought it now) and see what is happening in Soren’s crazy world :0”
“The author does a fantastic job of creating a vivid world with immersive details. The story flows well and the writing style is enjoyable. The only thing I’m not sure about is the ending. The term deus ex machina apty applies. Soren was in a pinch but he didn’t get himself out of it. Someone who was never previously mentioned in the story (but who had secretly helped Soren in another tight situation) showed up out of nowhere and saved him. This is the first book of a series, though. I look forward to reading the next book where I hope Soren has a little more agency in saving himself and in giving the antagonists their retribution.”
